GE Aviation’s CF6-80E1 Engines Power Air Algerie’s newly delivered Airbus A330 Aircraft

Air Algerie took delivery of the first of three Airbus A330-200 aircraft powered by CF6-80E1 engines. The engine order is valued at more than $100 million USD list price.

“We continue our expansion strategy into long haul routes, which is made possible with the CF6-80E1-powered Airbus A330-200 aircraft,” said Mohamed Salah Boultif, chief executive officer, Air Algerie. “The engine-aircraft combination allow our airline to grow in a profitable and sustainable manner.”

“The CF6-80E1 engines continues to perform well in the field with more than 16 million flight hours and 3 millon cycles,” said Tom Levin, general manager of the CF6 engine program at GE Aviation. “Investment in the engine program has helped enhance the engine’s fuel efficiency and time on wing to exceed our customers’ expectations.”

GE and Air Algerie have worked together for more than 25 years and developed a strong relationship. Nearly 70% of the Air Algerie fleet is powered by GE or its joint venture partners.

Powering more than 10 models of wide-body aircraft, the engine family has established an unparalleled record of reliability for more than 40 years with more than 400 million flight-hours in service with more than 250 operators worldwide.

More than 580 CF6-80E1 engines have been delivered for the Airbus A330 aircraft.
